Canada’s Inflation Rises to 2.4% Amid Rising Fuel Costs

Canada’s inflation rate rose to 2.4% in March, driven largely by skyrocketing fuel costs linked to the conflict in Iran. Fresh vegetable prices saw their steepest climb in nearly three years, jumping 7.8%, with cucumbers and peppers leading the increase due to supply shortages. While gasoline prices surged by 21.2% compared to February, natural gas prices dropped by 18.1%, providing some insulation from global trends. Restaurant price growth slowed significantly to 3.2%. Overall, higher energy costs remain the primary driver of inflation, squeezing household budgets across the country.
