NEVR Launches Elder Abuse Awareness & Prevention Toolkit to Support Community-Wide Action

The Network to Eliminate Violence in Relationships (NEVR) has launched a new Elder Abuse Awareness &
Prevention Toolkit, a comprehensive digital resource designed to support communities, organizations, and
service providers in recognizing, responding to, and preventing elder abuse.
Elder abuse, including emotional, financial, physical, sexual abuse, and neglect, remains significantly
underreported and often hidden due to fear, isolation, dependency, and lack of awareness. NEVR’s new toolkit
responds to this growing concern by providing practical, accessible, and trauma-informed tools that enable
sustained, community-wide education and prevention efforts.

The Elder Abuse Awareness & Prevention Toolkit is a ready-to-use package that includes:
• Ready-to-post social media graphics
• Short, mobile-friendly educational videos
• Blog and newsletter content
• Quotes and interactive polls
• A 12-month social media content calendar
• A simple evaluation guide
• A curated list of trusted elder abuse support resources

Designed for flexibility, the toolkit allows organizations to post content as-is, co-brand materials, localize
messaging, and integrate content into newsletters, workshops, and outreach activities. No specialized marketing
skills or additional funding are required to participate.
A key feature of the initiative is its collective impact approach. “This toolkit supports consistent, coordinated
messaging over an entire year, helping communities recognize warning signs, normalize conversations about
safety and dignity, and ensure people know where to seek help,” said Dr. Balbir Gurm, Executive Director of NEVR.
By encouraging organizations to follow the shared 12-month social media calendar, the campaign amplifies reach
and visibility across multiple platforms and communities.
NEVR is inviting organizations, media partners, and community leaders to participate by downloading the toolkit
and sharing the content through their social media channels and networks.
